Tonight, the Denver East boy’s basketball team will leave to go to the Great Western Shootout in Orem, Utah. The boy’s basketball team has a 2-0 record so far this season. Last year, the team went 21-5.
The out-of-state tournament gives high school teams a chance to play teams they wouldn’t normally, and which are often some of the best in the country. In addition, tournaments like this one help players get attention from college scouts.
Denver East’s starting 5 players include 2 seniors and 3 sophomores. The team was recently ranked first in a coaches poll of the best high school basketball teams in the state conducted by the Denver Post.
After this tournament, the team will travel to Henderson, Nevada to compete in the Foothill Holiday Classic beginning on December 19.
