Senior citizen taken into police custody regarding hit-and-run case

Police investigators arrested 85-year-old Marshall Smith on Monday, January 27 after conducting a series of tests on a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run case earlier this January and concluding that he was the one who drove the car when the accident happened.

The arrest was made possible due to a witness providing the license plate number leading to the white 1985 Chevrolet Impala’s location.

Sixty-three-year-old Leanna Hund was walking along Colorado Boulevard at Exposition Avenue in Denver on her way to work at around 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 9 when a white car struck her and then left the scene of the accident. Hund died in the accident

According to people, Smith had undergone dialysis for his kidney condition the day before the accident and was advised to not drive for a while by his physician. He was merely retrieving the vehicle he had been driving before the incident occurred, they said.
