Roll-over accident in Denver caused by hit-and-run driver

Wednesday afternoon a hit-and-run accident in Denver caused a van to rollover near Downing Street.
According to Denver Police, a driver on E. 13th Ave. sped through a red light, and struck the side of a heating and plumbing van. The van flipped on it’s side, and then proceeded to roll several times. The driver who caused the accident fled from the scene by foot.
The driver of the van did not sustain serious injuries from the car accident. Police are still trying to locate the individual who left the crime scene. Delays were experienced around the accident site while emergency crews cleaned the area.

1 killed, 4 injured in ambulance accident near Avondale

Yesterday, a fatal three-vehicle accident occurred east of Avondale on U.S. 50. According to the Colorado State Patrol, the car accident happened when an ambulance on its way to a hospital in Colorado Springs crashed into a Dodge pickup truck. The collision sent the westbound Dodge head-on into an eastbound vehicle.
The ambulance hit the truck’s back right side as the truck moved into the left westbound lane to turn onto 51st Lane. The vehicle that the truck was pushed into was a Mercury Mountaineer SUV. The ambulance and SUV both continued driving for a few yards after the accident, until falling into a ditch off the side of the highway and flipping.
An 84-year-old man being transported in the ambulance was flown to Penrose Main Hospital, after the accident. He later passed away from his injuries. An 18-year-old and a 40-year-old in the SUV were taken to St. Mary Corwin with unspecified injuries. Two people in the truck suffered minor injuries.

Passenger suffers serious injuries in rollover accident

This weekend, a driver and passenger were injured in a rollover accident in between Lyons and Longmont on Colorado Highway 66, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The two injured people, both aged 26-years old, were traveling in a 1995 GMC Sierra in the westbound lanes of the freeway. The car accident occurred at around 6:15 a.m. close to 63rd Street.
For an unknown reason, the GMC Sierra veered off the left side of the highway and continued into an embankment off the side of the road. The vehicle rolled at least 1.5 times and struck a tree in the process.
The passenger was ejected from the vehicle in the rollover accident and suffered serious injuries. Both the driver, who incurred minor injuries, and the passenger were taken to Longmont United Hospital. The passenger was later transferred to Denver Health Medical Center.

4 injured in 2-vehicle accident in Ft. Collins

Last week, 4 people were injured in a 2-vehicle accident involving a Larimer County Sheriff’s Office vehicle in Ft. Collins, Colorado.
The accident occurred at 11:27 p.m. on Monday at the intersection of College Avenue and Harmony Road. According to police reports, a Larimer County officer was stopped in the southbound lanes of College Avenue at a red light when he witnessed a traffic violation.
The officer, who was stopped in the left-turn lane, switched on his emergency lights and began turning left into the eastbound lanes of Harmony Road. In the middle of the intersection, the officer’s vehicle was struck by a car traveling northbound on College Avenue with a green light.
The 38-year old Larimer County officer was treated for minor injuries at the hospital. Paramedics took the driver and two passengers in the other vehicle to Poudre Valley Hospital where they were treated for moderate injuries.
Police are investigating the accident to determine who was at fault. Currently, alcohol and speed are not suspected to have played a role in the car accident.

1 killed, 2 injured in 2-vehicle accident in Elizabeth

Last Tuesday, a tragic 2-vehicle accident in the town of Elizabeth, Colorado left 1 person dead and 2 others injured.
The accident occurred on County Road 21 at around 2 p.m., according to Elizabeth Fire Department officials. The Colorado State Patrol is investigating the accident, but believes that a 1996 Buick Century carrying 3 Elizabeth High School students collided with a Jeep at the intersection of County Road 154.
The driver of the Buick, 18, was transported to Littleton Adventist Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. A 16-year old in the vehicle was flown to Swedish Medical Center, but her condition was not reported. A third passenger in the vehicle, 17, was killed in the accident.

Police investigating fatal accident on I-70B

Saturday afternoon, a fatal accident occurred on Interstate 70 Business Loop, or I-70B, in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Police reports state that the 2-vehicle accident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. and officers arrived at the scene at around 6 p.m. The Grand Junction Police Department began investigating but was waiting on the Colorado State Patrol to take over investigating the car accident.
The accident occurred near 31 1/2 Road and involved a van and one other vehicle. Officers believe the two vehicles collided when one of them made a left hand turn and struck the other vehicle.
One person was killed in the accident and several were taken to hospitals with unspecified injuries.

Drunk driver charged with murder in fatal hit-and-run

Last week, Colorado police charged a woman with first-degree murder for her suspected involvement in a drunk driving hit-and-run accident in Longmont. In addition, the woman faces 8 other charges including driving under the influence.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the accident occurred when the 32-year old driver was traveling on Nelson Road one Saturday evening. The woman’s truck was witnessed crossing over the center line near 63rd Street before colliding head-on with another vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle that was hit by the drunk driver was killed in the accident. The driver’s sister and 2-year old daughter suffered serious injuries in the drunk driving accident.
3 injured in 2-vehicle accident near Parachute, CO

3 people suffered injuries in a 2-vehicle accident in Parachute, Colorado yesterday evening. According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, the accident occurred at around 5 P.M. on Tuesday at Interstate 70 and Highway 6.
The accident happened between the cities of Parachute and Rifle when a motorhome traveling in the westbound lanes of I-70 got a flat tire. The motorhome moved to the right side of the road and onto Highway 6 where it collided with a pickup truck traveling eastbound on the highway.
The two vehicles collided head-on. The driver of the pickup truck had to be flown to Grand Junction Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the motorhome and a passenger in the vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Three-car accident claims the life of one

A three-car accident off of I-25 claimed that life of one person in Denver.
Denver police are now investigating the incident in order to decide what caused the fatal crash. Three other people were injured in the incident and taken to the Denver Health Medical Center to be treated.
According to officials, two sport utility vehicles and another passenger car were involved in the accident. The woman who was killed was driving the car, she was 31 years old. The northbound lanes of I-25 near the accident were closed for five hours while crews investigated.

Two killed in car accident on Highway 160

Two people were killed in a car accident on Highway 160 near La Veta.
According to Colorado State Troopers,a woman was heading westbound down than road and traveling at a high speed when she attempted to pass a vehicle in a no-pass zone.
A 59-year-old man was traveling east carrying a horse trailer when the two vehicles collided. Both drivers were killed as a result of the accident. A passenger in the eastbound vehicle was transported to the hospital to be treated for injuries and the horse was not injured.
