4 injured in 2-vehicle accident in Ft. Collins

Last week, 4 people were injured in a 2-vehicle accident involving a Larimer County Sheriff’s Office vehicle in Ft. Collins, Colorado.

The accident occurred at 11:27 p.m. on Monday at the intersection of College Avenue and Harmony Road.  According to police reports, a Larimer County officer was stopped in the southbound lanes of College Avenue at a red light when he witnessed a traffic violation.

The officer, who was stopped in the left-turn lane, switched on his emergency lights and began turning left into the eastbound lanes of Harmony Road.  In the middle of the intersection, the officer’s vehicle was struck by a car traveling northbound on College Avenue with a green light.

The 38-year old Larimer County officer was treated for minor injuries at the hospital.  Paramedics took the driver and two passengers in the other vehicle to Poudre Valley Hospital where they were treated for moderate injuries.

Police are investigating the accident to determine who was at fault.  Currently, alcohol and speed are not suspected to have played a role in the car accident.
