Wal-Mart pulls 3,000 batches of formula from shelves

Wal-Mart has removed a batch of baby formula from nearly 3,000 of its stores’ shelves after a Missouri infant became extremely ill the day after eating the formula. He later died after taken off of child support.

The Enfamil Newborn formula with the lot number of ZP1K7G is manufactured by Mead Johnson Nutrition. There had been no federal recall and the  lot tested negative to bacteria contamination, but Wal-Mart officials decided to take extra precaution until it is determined what caused the infant’s death.

Customers have the option to get the cans refunded if they have previously purchased. Samples given to the infant are now being tested by the Center of Disease Control to see if there is a link to the child’s sudden illness.
