An increasing number of bicycle-car accidents in F…

Over the last few years, nearly 1,000 Fort Collins bicyclists have been injured in bicycle-automobile accidents. These numbers are expected to rise as Fort Collins traffic engineers continue to see an "upward trend in bicycle crash frequency." According to reports, since 2008, there have been 923 bicyclist injuries, four of which ended in fatality. In 2013, alone, 141 cases of bike-car accidents have been reported. Dr. Schott Johnson, medical director of the Poudre Valley emergency room, continues to urge drivers to pay more attention to cyclists. Bicycles provide people with an environmentally-friendly, economical means of transportation in addition to promoting physical fitness. Cyclists shouldn't be subject to physical injury. Big rig crashes into cars at an intersection; four…

Englewood, Colorado police are investigating the details of a car accident involving a semi-truck that caused a 13-vehicle pileup that wounded four people at a Cherry Hills Village intersection on Monday, October 21. A white big rig hauling a long flatbed trailer was making its way westward on the Highway 285/Hampden bypass at around 3:30 p.m. when its driver failed to yield at South Clarkson Street, causing the vehicle to crash into the cars stopped at the intersection. According to witness Emily Pond, it was an out-of-control semi-truck that had caused the pileup. The semi-truck was identified to be owned by Englewood’s Winslow Crane Service Co. Police records showed five cars scrunched in a cluster and four other vehicles were in various states of disrepair at the intersection of Hampden bypass/Jefferson Avenue and Clarkson.
