Snowfalls increase vehicular accidents in Greeley…

Heavy snowfall in Greeley, Colorado in late February made roads slick and wet, increasing the potential for traffic accidents to occur. According to the Colorado State Patrol, the icy and snow-packed roads made for poor visibility throughout the county, resulting mainly in minor crashes, such as fender-benders and vehicles sliding off the roads; however, one serious accident did occur, in which a 16-year-old boy was hit by a snowplow near Colorado 60 and Weld County Road 25, east of Milliken on February 24. Sustaining non-life threatening wounds, he was taken to the North Colorado Medical Center, according to State Patrol spokesman Trooper Josh Lewis. Sadly, inclement weather and other people's negligence all too often causes serious physical harm to innocent victims. When this has happened to you, call (303) 423-1770 to find out how you may be able to pursue financial compensation for your losses. Our team at Hull & Zimmerman, P.C., may be able to help you through this often complicated process.

Man Pleads Guilty in Fatal Crash…

William Shaffer, 61, of Iowa, faces a maximum jail term of 60 days after causing a vehicular accident west of Howard on U.S. 50 that left 41-year-old Heather Ann Dunn dead. Shaffer pleaded guilty to careless driving resulting in death, which is considered a Class 1 traffic violation. Although Shaffer’s original charge of vehicular homicide by reckless driving was dismissed, he now faces at least $9,000 in damages and is banned from operating any motor vehicle. He was temporarily released on a $30,000 bond and allowed to return home to Iowa to await further court hearings.
