Toyota recalls 803,000 vehicles due to airbag defect

Toyota recalled over 800,000 vehicles with leaky air conditioning filters which have caused airbag malfunction.

The recall includes 803,000 vehicles sold in the United States, such as the year 2012 and 2013 Camry, Venza, Cambry Hybrid, Avalon, and Avalon Hybrid.

So far, Toyota has recorded 35 cases of airbag warning lights prematurely coming on and three cases of the airbag being accidentally deployed.

According to a Toyota announcement of the recall, “water from the air conditioning condenser unit housing could leak onto the airbag control module and cause a short circuit, resulting in illumination of the airbag warning light”.

Toyota spokeswoman Cindy Knight said that in many cases, spiders have caused the problem by weaving webs that block an important drainage tube within the air conditioning units.

If you or a loved one have been harmed by an auto defect, you may be entitled to compensation. Please contact our experienced personal injury attorneys at [firm-name] by calling (303) 423-1770 to discuss your case today.
