Recently, Honda stopped the sale of some models of their vehicles at franchised used car dealerships due to the potential of an airbag defect.

The car manufacturer has received complaints about metal breaking off and flying out towards drivers and passengers when airbags in some of their vehicles deploy.  At least 12 people have been injured and at least 1 person has died because of the airbag defect.

Officials believe that airbag deployment systems in some Honda models use too much pressure to inflate the airbags, causing metal and plastic around the airbag to break off and shoot out.

Honda issued a recall of about 603,000 vehicles last year.  Last month, the recall was expanded to include 273,000 additional vehicles.  Models involved in the recall include the 2003 Acura CL, 2002-2003 Acura TL, 2001-2003 Civic, 2001-2003 Odyssey, 2001-2002 Accord, 2003 Pilot, and 2002-2003 CRV.
