17th annual ice climbing competition held in Ouray

This past Thursday through Saturday, the 17th annual Ouray Ice Climbing Festival took place at a gorge near Ouray, Colorado.

At the festival, 16 ice climbers competed to reach the top of a man-made icy, mountain slope.  Only 2 of the 16 competitors were able to make it to the top.

The first place winner was a Canadian climber, winning $2,000.  A Boulder woman came in first out of the female competitors.

In addition to the climbing competition, the festival featured climbing clinics, exhibitions, gear demonstrations, and slide shows.  Money from the event goes toward the Ouray Ice Park.  The park is free to visit and available for anyone to use.

The Denver personal injury attorneys of Hull & Zimmerman, P.C. would like to congratulate all of the festival’s participants and encourage all to enjoy the events the area has to offer.  The Denver Post has more information on the Ouray Ice Climbing Festival.
