Last week a San Diego Superior Court jury awarded a southern California man $7.5 million in his slip and fall lawsuit against Starbucks Coffee Co.
The man was in the coffee shop in 2008 when he fell on the wet floor. He sustained a head injury and complications have prevented him from returning to work as a chiropractor since the fall. The jury decided that Starbucks Coffee Co. was negligent in its maintenance of the property.
The verdict will compensate the man for his medical expenses, lost income, and loss of enjoyment of life. His wife will also receive $1 million for loss of consortium.
